The #1 song on Australia's largest music poll "Triple J's Hottest 100" has seen something evil happen. The Eerie Finale song from Australian Pulp/Horror Film "Two Hands". The song is called "These Days" and is performed by a Brisbane (my city the best city, the only city in Australia worth the experience:) band called Powderfinger. The oddest thing is the song only appeared oin the "Two Hands", it was never released as a single, and was never released on a Powderfinger album. However the song will be implanted in the viewers minds because of the final scene in "Two Hands" from which it comes. The scene that will most likely prevent the film ever screening in the USA, because of its content. Amazingly yet again the VOTE prooves to be different ot the actual PROFIT that a song makes, hey if it was released as a single, it would have stayed at #1 for 10 weeks and we'd be sick of it. 1999 is shaping into the BIGGEST critical year Horror has had since the 70s. Horror Fever has even struck in Australia, with the film TWO HANDS. Not only did it wipe out the competitors at the recent IF (Indie Filmmakers in Australia) but it also has a ZOMBIE in it.. Although many of the zombie scenes have been removed.

BRYAN BROWN

Heath Ledger

"Two Hands" has won HANDS DOWN at the "Australian Film Institute" awards.. Two Hands won in the following awards. The award ceremony was held at the recently opened FOX studios in SYDNEY.. And as per usual had all the glitz and glamour you would expect of Australia's counter culture.. No black Ties and suits to be seen.. Rather swanky looking gents and pretty girls.

When Two Hands was first released we realised it was going to be bgi.. IT was the first Australian film to HIT #1 at the domestic box office since the co-production of George Millers BABE.

The US release date has not yet been set. But pray that there is no customization done to this bit of Australian cinema. I ask that you sift through the Australian slang and accents.. Otherwise the film will just be another Australian film that is dumbed down (ala MAD MAX or The CASTLE) which will cause the film to loose part of the film.

This is not the first bit of acclaim the film has recieved.. In the US it went well at this years SUNDANCE film festival and was touted by MTV as a film to keep and eye out for.

On the right is a picture of co-stat Rose Byrne and Director/Writer award winner Gregor Jordan.

"Two Hands" has scooped the pool of nominations at this years Australian Film Institute awards.. 11 nominations in all. The awards are handed out in November at a huge function at FOX studios in Sydney. That is absolutely amazing. And the film has a zombie in it to boot.. The diretor Gregor Jordan has also reportedly picked up a 3 film deal in Hollywood with someone??

Amazingly "Two Hands" (The Australian Horror film from Sundance) has scared the audiences into the premiere this week.. Making it the first Australian FILM in a long time to debut at #1 position at the box office. It grossed 807 thousand over 123 screens on the weekend (dismal compared to TBWP), you need to remember that the film was in WIDE release and at the same time there were two major film festivals luring punters away from the multiplexes. A large one in Melbourne (MIFF) and Brisbane (BIFF). I have not yet seen the film because I've been busy at BIFF. But intend to soon and will post a review when I do. The film beat South Park which dropped off 44%. Other Horror films faired like this #6 "The Mummy", #12 Carrie 2 (in first week 88 cinemas). Ball and all this week is a horrible week to release a film Especially during BIFF as Brisbane is one of the Keenest movie going areas in the Western World. Bad Timing again for MGM's Carrie 2, but I went and saw it.. Review here.

"TWO HANDS" official site has opened at www.twohands.com.au . Go there it's funky. There is a downloadable trailer.. But the trailer isa n real media file that is not streaming.. When will companies learn that a mov is way better even if we have to download a little longer. The site is flash intensive but still cracks a nice new feel..

Two Hands

19 films have been entered into the AFI (Australian Film Industry) awards. Gregor Jordan's "Two Hands" and (writer of CUT and director of KISS OR KILL) Bill Bennet's "In a Savage Land" starring Rufus Sewell the film is set on the brink of WWII in PnG.. These are two horror worthy pick's. The nominations will be announced on the 13th of October and the ceremony will be conducted at FOX studio's Pyrmont, and be broadcast live on SBS 13th Novemeber. The thing that strikes me as discomforting, is the low number of films that have been made in Australia this year. There is only 19. If you paid your 49.95 AFI fee this year, you get to see all 19 films free at special screenings more info at urban cinefile.

I was able to finally get the soundtrack to "Two Hands" (the caption reads "It was only one mistake, but it was a big one") the upcoming sly-genred horror film, which is on one hand a crime film and on the other hand a horror. It stars Heath Ledger (10 things... ), Rose Byrne and Bryan Brown (Cocktail, FX). It's an Aussie film and contians mainly Australian music. Sections of the score are also available they are done by Cezary Skubiszerwski. The CD artwork is much like the poster and contains lots of wallpapered Aussie Colourfull Cash.. Oh there's a bottle of beer in there as well, what would a Oz film be without a stubbie?? The film releases in Australia on July 29 and has caused a stir at Sundance. Here is the soundtrack listing.
THESE DAYS- Powderfinger
LUCKY STAR- Alex Lloyd
WALKING KINGS X- Cezary Skubiszerwski
WHAT DOES IT MATTER - Primary
STADIUM - Skunkhour
DARK STATE OF MIND - Tuatara
BELTER - Powderfinger

Australian Horror Film "Two Hands" will open on the 29th of July. I saw the poster at the cinema fairly much regulation. It stars Buffy beau candidate Heath Ledger and Rose Byrne found a nice pic for you.

 12th of June 99

Brisbane band Powderfinger will provide a song titled "These Days" for the soundtrack to the new Australian horror film "Two Hands".
 30th of May 1999.

Finally the "Sundance" special screened on MTV Australia. Along with "The Blair Witch Project" there was information about the film "Two Hands" an Australian film starring Bryan Brown and Rose Byrne, tthe story follows a 19 year old (Heath Ledger) that owes a gangsta boss some cash (Bryan Brown), whiled Ledger is on the run he meets the more-ish Rose Byrne who becomes the love interest. Where is the HORROR in that I hear you ask.. Well I'll just say the horror creeps into this Gangstar film in the same kind of way it did in "From Dusk Till Dawn". I'm yet to see it, But it looks great. The Film is directed by Greogor Jordan.
