Tuesday the 31st of August 99 (sorry had to do an Exam and study and
stuff last two days:()
"Scream 3" has taken MTV host
and playboy Jenny McCarthy on board. Scream 3 only has a few more weeks
left of shooting. McCarthy was at one stage going to be in the spoof.. Funny
how things change. Parker Posey was taken out of context last week.. Her
words were twisted.. And said in Jest. etcetera.. sorry for posting them
just becasue E online had them.
Mark Blucas (pleasantville) will be playing the Buffy
love interest role in the new series. It will be set at college and Buffy's
ability and background will be unkown to all. It will be more like changing
schools.. Than going into tertiary education. (DH)
A trailer for "The Bone Collector"
has popped up online. It is a 8.6
meg download. From Hollywood online.
The US weekend box office.
The Sixth Sense has taken #1 again.. 20.1
million, total of 138.9 million. so far.
#2 "The 13th Warrior" entered
with 10.3 million.
#8 "The Blair Witch Project" 4.1
million, total of 127.8million.
#10 "The Astronaugt's Wife" 4
million.
The B Movie Festival was on the weekend. I'm waiting for, www.b-movie.com
to announce the winners before I post one or two of them.. I know they have
been announced.. But I haven't got an official list as of yet.. I'm interested
to see if the Australian film "Zone 39"
picked up any awards.. AS the guy who did the score for that has since gone
on to win an Academy Award. However Zone 39 got no Music nomination.

Casting for Kevin (The Method) Lewis's latest film "Downward
Angel" has begun. The part of Razor has gone to veteran
actor (and from what I have just read WRITER) of horror, has gone to Michael
Todd (Stop it, You're
Killing Me, Puppetmaster 2 and 3, H.P. Lovecraft's Lurking Fear).
A sequel to "The Sixth Sense"?
Very likely now that it took so much at the boxoffice. The maker of the
film 29 year old M. Night Shyamalan (the guy lucky enough to get 3 weeks
in a row at #1 at the Box office, which was the 3rd feature he directed,
who is also born on the 3rd of August, [which is also my birthday] is also
attached as writer to Sturat Little) , was recently asked if he had a sequel
to make.. He said it was quite possible, but firstly he had a couple of
other projects to work on. (CSO) The Director of the film also plays the
roll of Dr. Hill in the film.
Stephen Somers on The Mummy 2, "I'm
writing away. Our intention is to try to make it as good, if not better,
than the first one. Not necessarily bigger -- just better. I think The Mummy
worked so well mainly because of its character. The special effects were
fantastic. I've got to come up with a whole new set, not rely on old tricks."
what about a catchy title? "I've been working on it for a couple
months. I'm just calling it Mummy 2 right now. I actually haven't gotten
to (a title yet). I like when people give them to me -- like The Jungle
Book, Huck Finn and The Mummy."
(CSO)
"Stigmata" pushed back to September

According to an Email I recieved from director Mike Prosser there may
soon be a DVD Special edition of his 7000 dollar film, "The
Dividing Hour".

"What Lies Beneath" is beggining
to sound like a more angry version of the old ghost classic "Blithe
Spirit", which I saw a stage version of a while back that was superb.
It will focus around Harrison Ford killing his lover accidently and returning
to his wife.. With some kind og spirit that follows him home (happens to
me all the time.. No really). No expense is being spared on the production
which will include the House in vermont and the LA soundstage that will
be done up to resemble the interiors for the supernatural sequences.. Now
this film has a lot to top if it is to succeed. Here are my top ghost films
for those who are interested. (DH)
1) The Haunting (1963) Robert Wise
2) The Entity (1981) Sidney J. Furie
3) The Amityville Horror (1979) Stuart Rosenberg
So this is what taints any view I have of ghost films. I will always have
these three in the forefront of my mind when watching or hearing about another
film. Anyone else who wants to send in a review of there favorite ghost
film please do so.. I hear "The Sixth Sense" is extremely good.
What of "Amityville 2000" I hear
you scream.. Well not much at the present.. Nothing in the saga since "Dollhouse"
was released. The announcement of the 2000 may just be a gimmick.. Afterall
how many saga's will have a 2000 next year.. Too many.
Parker Posey is less than happy with her role in Scream
3 according to Darkhorizons.
Sometimes They Come Back For More, releases
to video on the 7th of Septmeber. Originally slotted for a 1998 release
the film is yet to make it to video.. But here it comes, with the hair slicked
back and all.. But hangon.. There is a difference in title in Australia
and the film has been available for a long time down here.. It is called
"Ice Station Erebus" and is rated
MA avail in most vid stores on teh New Release shelf. It is odd how horror
video is releasing early down here. I rented "The
Fear II- Halloween Night" The other day (widescreen what a delight)
and it is not due for US release until 2000.
Late Thursday the 26th of August 99 NEW reviews (IN
DREAMS, Arlington Road)
Way back on May 13 I reported about a film called "The
Good Book" from a production company called "Drop Dead Films". The company that makes the films
that keep you up all night. I was just informed via email by President of
DDF, Matthew Giaquinto the following, "Our little film that could
was garnished with five nominations (including Best Editing, Best Special
Effects and Best Villain). We're keeping our fingers crossed that we walk
away with something and we'll keep everyone posted!" The
nominations are for the B-Movie festival this weekend.

Artisan has decided more the merrier.. Their new found wealth is launching
another type of horror revival with 3-4 horror flicks on the way.. They
just added to it.. "Soul Survivor"
is the name of the new ghostly apparition. Eliza Dushku (Faith from Buffy),
Melissa Sage Miller is also likely to be in the cast another maybe hangs
over the head of actor Luke Wilson. I'd say yes to it, but it kind of has
a "Campfire Tales" meets "Bad Dreams", while talking
to "Hideaway" over the Cell phone feel to it.. Here's what I mean.
The premise is "After awakening in a hospital after what she believes
was a car accident which killed her boyfriend, a young woman begins to experience
'nightmarish hallucinations." (HO)
Roger Corman will be producing and starring
in a new "35-Chapter serial monster movie"
according to cinsecape online... as per serial's it will most like combine
the style you saw with the old SHAZAM series except it will be horror..
Expect to see serquences toward the end of the piece where the monsters
Identity looks like it will be revealed, and than you'll get a tune in next
week type message.. This Cliffhanger approach to directing is something
that lacks in most horror TV.. Buffy only has a couple of two part episodes
with an ongoing mythos.. But imagine a Buffy style 2 part series.. Than
multiply the anxiety by about 17 and you'll be half way to how fun this
new show will be. The show will be available on AMC and will run from October
29 at 9.00pm until you drop basically. Corman will also be hosting the show..
I wish I had the channel so I could see this amazing TV event. The 35 parter
will play out between movies. (CSO)
Spielberg will be bringing to the screen the Straub/King novel "The Talisman". The story will be turned into
that extremely popular Australian format, now more widely used in AMERICA,
"The Mini-Series". Dreamworks will be bringing it to you via ABC,
but are being tight lipped about production according to CSO.
Ice Cube has been cast in the title roll in the film "Shadowman"
based on the Comic book and video game character that is sometimes living,
some times dead and in hell. Pre-production begins in October, the film
is set to go into production Early January. (CSO)

#12 "The Mummy" , 112,252, total

"Scooby Doo" that famous scared

is currently at work on the script for the film (HO).

Pictures from "The 13th Warrior"
straight from DH.
Another spoof has popped up.. It is called "The Blairwich Project". It is a film that has recently
been made that explores the lives of 3 film students on there way to do
get some Maccas. (DH) "In September of 1999, Sarah Finifrock, Mike
Anaya and Jeff tobler ventured into Normal, IL to shoot a documentary on
a local legend. They were never heard of again. Three days and four McDonalds'

Poster for "The Crow: Salvation"

For Love". Well they forgot "For the 3rd time". I'm a fan
of sequels/sagas looks like a good film so far. (CSO)
Will Ardeth Bay be in "The Mummy 2",
actor Oded Fehr who played Ardeth thinks so.. "That scene at the
end [of The Mummy] was not there when we first filmed it. During the filming
in Morocco, Stephen [Sommers, the films director]
decided to
change it and add that scene at the end. And I think it was just in case
there might be a Mummy 2." (CSO)
"What Lies Beneath" written by
Clark Gregg and directed by Robert Zemeckis has begun filming. Added to
the cast are Diana Scarwid and Joe Morton. The film has been resynopted,
"a happily married couple whose idyllic life is threatened by mysterious
events." (CSO) But I thik we can assume that seeing this is Dreamworks
it will have ghost running about.
These pictures from "Supernova"

Monday the 23rdd of August 99 (I'm taking Sunday as a Holiday now
on in:)
Australians who can't wait to see "The Blair
Witch Project".. Get ready to be happy sooner.. On Sept the
2nd (that's not far away), Birch Carrol
and Coyle cinemas are playing a deadly game of film roulette.. Now you
take your 10 bucks to the cinema and you pay for a ticket. After doing this
you have one in six chances to see "The Blair Witch Project".
Okay now you are screaming right.. This is all just a stupid as all crap
plot to rob 10 bucks off 5 sixth's of the audience. As the other 5 films
are nothing short of CRAP.. Aussie Horror fans will be glad to know that
2 of the 6 films are horror films, but the other horror film is unfortunately
the remake of "The Haunting".. Now there are a few ways to ensure
that you get to see "The Blair Witch Project" on this date. The
first suggestion is to sleep with one of the BCC staff. The second is to
say that you are a film reviewer from a popular magazine and or paper or
that you run the best site on the NET for film review and that if you don't
get to see "The Blair Witch Project", the phrase Birch Carrol
and Coyle will be nothing if not Mud. The 3rd suggestion could be a little
expensive.Buy a ticket to at least 3 of the sessions.. Check out each in
turn until you get the witch. Sure I can see me paying 60 bucks to see this
film.. The etiquette for leaving a session that is not TBWP is simple. You
stand and scream "This is not what I F@#$ing Paid For" and run
out before Tthe 15 min time and refund your ticket. But I have a feeling
that BCC will not refund tickets that have been ripped so beg the usher
not too rip your ticket. Other wise you could end up going through SIX sessions
before you find the one you want.. I saw the poster up at Carindale 8 today..
I assume that it is available in all BCC multiplexes. I'm going to be hunting
down the witch.. But I think I could end up paying 60 bucks to see this
film before someone else tells me the ending. From the point of view of
a FAN of a film I have not yet seen, regardless of the amount of DUBS and
pirate copies I have been offered I have not claimed any, although I have
been tempted too. I want to see this film legally.. Why not releases it
on the 3rd of September?? Sorry to those who have seen this film.. But just
indulge an Australian for a few lines more and then we can get back to the
REAL news. October 27 the DVD reg 1 will release. Within a week of shipping
reg1 DVD's will be all over Australia.. The Universities with the Players
will all have FREE educational screenings in their respective cinemas with
only the price of a DVD changing hands. If the Distributor had a brain they
would release the film prior to the DVD release in the USA. As now with
the Internet a film is needs a global saturation. Space barriers have been
broken down in the last 5 years, due in part to the internet. With services
selling DVD's at least 1 in 5 will sell stuff to countries they aren't meant
to sell them to. All I'm saying is release the film before the limited release
of 16th of December and Wide on the 26th of December or it will cost you
a major slab of your audience.. The Audience for this film just want to
see it.. And to see it as soon as possible. Snooze and you loose on this
film. If this were any other film it would release quicker in OZ. I for
one will not see it at the cinema if I get the DVD first. I'm keen on seeing
this film the first legal way I can. Even if that means ordering the DVD.
I'm keen to do right by the HAXAN 5 but if you could bottle my anticipation
you would be able to start drinking corporation bigger than all the Cola
companies combined. If you haven't seen my frustrations played out before,
you may want to check out how I occupied my mind as the film was opening
in the USA, as seen in NEWSWEEK, the Australian parody of TBWP, titled "The Road Rules Project".
Try and find Sarah's Journal.:)
NOW BACK TO THE NEWS
"I woke up Early the Day I Died"
will get its Australian premiere at the new, WINE DRINKING ELITIST Canne
wannabe festival at NOOSA called the NOOSA FILM FESTIVAL. Billy Zane will
be at the premiere of the film. John Sayles will also pop into the festival
to give a seminar on directing and also chat about Limbo his latest film
(That screened at BIFF). For those not in the know.. NOOSA used to be the
last untouched brilliant place for a Holiday.. Kiss the good old times good
bye. But I think I'll see if I can make it along and try and look like I
can afford a ticket to the festival even though it really breaks my bank.
Festivals used to be for film lovers.. Now they are just for Ca$h hungry
wanker$ that wouldn't know a camera from a microphone. However Noosa has
a heart.. This festival gives the money to childrens charity. Which will
soften the $$$ blow I will get. I hope I don't charge ridiculous prices
when I put on my first Horror Film Festival. Or for godsake somebody shoot
me.
New picture from "The Greenmile",
this looks to be the final walk of the bloke who has the mouse. (DH)
Frightmaster over at "Upcoming Horror Movies" has picked up a major scoop
on "Scream if You Know What I Did Last Halloween",
"Ok most of the shoot yesterday was spent outside doing a football
game using area teens as cheerleaders and fans. The last part of the shoot
last night was the killer? In a scream like costume out side with a hook
in his hand (ala I know what you did last summer) hiding behind some trees
on the Vic High campus. The movie is set in California if you can believe
the tags on the Sheriff cars that is with the name of the school in the
movie being called "B.A Corpse High". Filming raps here on Saturday
and then they cross over to Vancouver to do the Jenny parts of the film.
Talking to some people that have been involved in getting local talent together
there is some concern about the Oct release date due to the fact the filming
began a week late but word is they are still aiming for the 16th for a wide
release.
Well today ended the major filming at Victoria High all that's left to do
here is tow shoots. Today was pretty light with scenes such as a girl throwing
out a bird that was being nursed back to health by one of the classes (She
thought it was a pet and thinking it could fly threw it out the window)
only to learn it couldn't fly as both it's wings were broken. Just like
scream 2 is based on "The Woodsburo Murders" this is too based
on a book with a title of something like "Your Dead." Instead
of Dep. Dewy there is a comical play on his name and the same goes for Gail.
Now the shooting shifts to Vancouver where filming will be finished up however
due to the fact that they are already one month behind shooting and they
have about 7 weeks of fliming left to go the Oct release date looks to be
very doubtful. Whenever this film makes it out it will be good for a few
laughs I am sure but other then that I doubt it will be worth much."
Harry Knowles is calling "End of Days"
Arnie's best work since T2. Big call. The film looks a lot like the recently
video release of Dolph Lundergren called "The Minion". Well that
is what I guess from the preview I have seen.. Based on the appreciation
the film could hit screens prior to December. (DH)
"The Sixth Sense" has hit #1 for
the 3rd consecutive week. This could tuna into Bruce Willis's biggest film
since .. Well since Armageddon.. It took 24.6 mill on the weekend. All up
it has grossed 106.6 million. I guess that makes Muriel Wedding Star Toni
Collette turn off the Abba music.
"The Blair Witch Project" slid
to #5 taking 7.6 mill in its 4th WIDE week. It now has taken 120.3 million.
It is currently fighting on the Julia Roberts film for position.
"Deep Blue Sea" has made it in
again at #9 taking 3.8 million overall the SHARK and Co. have raked in 63.6million.
"Teaching Mrs. Tingle" managed
to sneak in the backdoor for #10 in its opening week. The film took only
3.5 million. This will spell the end to a good run for Kevin Williamson.
I hope he is not a manic depressive, as this will be the foresight to the
romantic comedy he wants to make next. Face it KW, Horror made you.. You're
one of us, like it or not. :)

The release date for "The Bone Collector"
has been pushed back to November the 5th. That is the date that Universal
will now release the film. (CSO)
Artisan continues to reward horror fans.. As Artisan rolls in TBWP funds
they have just brought a screenplay by Brian King called "Allison"
that is said to be "a Hitchcock vein telling the story of a young
college girl who attempts to get out of financial debt only to fall into
"a set of terrifying circumstances." Gellar is said to be in advanced
negotiations on the property. AMG and Greg Silverman will produce."
The Gellar referred to is the Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar. (CSO)
The cast of "The Blair Witch Project"
will be appearing at the MTV Music awards on Sept 7. So make sure to tune
in.. And wish that you could fast forward through all those bits with Will
Smith in it.. Damn live to air..
The short film "Y2K" will have
its preview screening somewhere in UNIVERSAL CITY on September 29. Exactly
where has not yet been confirmed. The info comes from co-director Slava,
thanks. See Black
Russian Films and this months archived news for More.
Another independent horror production group to keep an eye on is "Oblivion Films",
like Black Russian Films, they are starting with shorts and working their
way up to trousers.. Oh bad joke, I know.. At the moment they have 2 products
circulating. One is Called "Between Darkness
and Oblivion". The below picture comes from the film. Those
shifty folks in the hoods are Vampires. The short was made for a local Goth
club.
Currently the founders and creative force behind "Oblivion Films"
Amber Thurman and O'Neal Pignani are putting together their masterpiece.
A feature called "Redemption" which
is the story of SWAN a fallen angel, sent by GOD to save humanity from VAMPIRES.
The film begins shooting sometime in August around Baltimore, Maryland.
According to the webpage they are still Casting. If you live in the area
and want to be in the film and goth or freaky looking (as they put it),
email them your details and a picture if possible: [email protected] . Ther official site is http://www.geocities.com/~oblivion_films/

More INdie news tomorrow. :) There is just so MUCH of it.
Friday the 20th of August 99
We pause for a few moments to pay tribute to a veteran of the genre.
Thursday the 19th of August (US time) Brion James died of a Heart Attack
aged 54. James may be best known for playing villains in films and for the
CYBORG character LEON in "Bladerunner". Horror films that he appears
in are numerous, to list a few here will give you a taste, "Horror
House", "Mom", "Black MAgic", "Scanner Cop",
"The Dark", "The Killing Jar", "The Nature of the
Beast". James appeared in over 30 Tv shows over spanning 3 decades
including episodes of "Millenium", "Tales From the Crypt"
and even "Benson" playing an Axeman.. But the villains that Brion
James portrayed on the screen were far from the person he was off it. Brion
James was a Vietnam Veteran that in his spare time helped young Hollywood
actors kick bad drug habits. The IMDB lists the amount of films that Brion James appears
in at an even 100, so chances are one of his films will be on TV this week.
BRION JAMES - RIP
There will not be much in the way of CROSSOVER episodes of "Buffy" and "Angel"
according Joss Whedon as they are a production nightmare:) (CSO)

Just when you thought that "Resident Evil"
was going to remain as just another CPU game.. from the dark depths of RE Online,
we here that George Romero will still be directing the film adaption of
the game.. However the scribe is now, none other than Andrew Kevin Walker,
who has been in the realm of CPU games before remember "Brainscan"?
Well his biggest hit was Se7en and 8mm was fairly large, Walker has been
fairly busy lately he also adapted Sleepy Hollow for Tim Burton. The star
of the film is at the moment being decided but two names have come up, 1
is Dolph Lungren (recently in the Horror film "The Minion") and
Bill Pullman (recently in "Lake Placid"). (DH)

"Razor Blade Smile" is an independent
film starting to cause a stir. It has picked up several nominations for
the FIRST B-Movie Film Festival Awards which are going to be held in PHOENIX,
NY on the 28th and 29th of August. Here is the list of Nom's it has (According
to HO) : Best B-film, best director, best actress (Eileen Daly), best special
effects, best cinematography and best set design. It kind of defeats the
purpose of giving out awards to B films because when they win they usually
aren't that B anymore. Checkout the film that B fans are crazy about at
the official site.. The film
is directed by Jake West.. And is about a girl named Lillith, who part seductress..
part Assassin and ALL VAMPIRE. (HO)
For a while there has been talk about UFO's in
GODZILLA 2000, well someone has photographed

a funny thing to do at the time.. (CSO)
Producer on "The Crow: Stairway to Heaven"
is gloomy as to whether or not there will be a 2nd series.. From CSO, "I
think Jeff got ahead of himself. The rights have yet to be granted back
to Pressman and, even after that event, he will need to find a new financier.
Then we would have to gear back up for production. We have no hold on actors,
the sets have been torn down, the crew is gone. I have not been approached
about a thing and, in fact, am at work on a new series."(CSO)
Horror at the Australian Box Office this weekend past.. In
Dreams failed to make it into the top 20 in its first week. Well
I can attest to it being boring, For a Neil Jordan film you would expect
a new slant on the psychic death premintion story, but no.. I'll review
it someday, it just made me angry for spending 5 bucks..

According to David S. Goyer, a director for "Blade
2" has not yet been found.. But the release date ius still set
for 2000. Wesley Snipes is keen on returning. (CSO)
According to Todd McFarlane SPAWN 2 could
start filming as early ast the 3rd quarter of 2000. (CSO)
"Everybody's Dead" has been snatched
up by Artisan and is the story of a fraternity party that is crashed by
hoards of flesh eating Zombies. Brian Lynch is directing this film, and
it will be produced by Greg Silverman. (CSO)
Tim Roth has told the Popcorn website that there is no way in the world

George Miller has revelaed in a BBC interview that Mel Gibson is interested

in a new direction." He then adds, "Who'd have thought 20 years
ago that people would one day be nostalgic for the apocalypse?",
well it better be more in the style of the first 2 or it could spell the
end of hearing about the film on this page.:) (CSO)
Tuesday the 17th of August 99
The Y2K bug has hit many places.. Hollywood tried to make a film with
Chris O'Donnell but that fell through.. But again it
creeps out of the independent Horror genre through, Black Russian Films comes the next one called "Y2K". This was originally a Feature film that
lost parts of its funding and as a result turned into a SHORT film. It is
co-drected by John Gonzales, Trent Shumway and Slava Siderman. Where can
you see this version of Y2K I hear you ask, well co-director Slava Siderman
emailed me this, "the first screening is. The film's trailer (not
the short) will be featured at a SciFi-Horror Symposium in mid September
in Los Angeles.", I really wish the guys had the cash to make this
film a feature.. Reading the plot on the films OFFICIAL SITE and seeing some of the pictures from the
set. It looks like the trio have hit on their hands. Hopefully this short
film will lite the careers of these film makers. The budget of the film
= 2,100 bucks. Okay this is ridiculously small. That means that the film
makers needed to harness NATURAL LIGHT (which is shockingly hard to harness
for continuity). The film is about a mercenary Hacker hired by a DNA cloning
research laboratory to help FIX the computer systems before Midnight 2000.
The reason is intially becasue of Monetary loss that will be incurred because
of the Y2K bug, but something more worrying is released at Midnight.

Ever Wonder what Jason Voorhees and Leatherface talk about when they get
together?? Well according to the 11th hour website, Gunnar Hansen (Leatherface) was talking
to Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees) and this is what Hansen told the 11th hours
"I think it's going to get made. I was talking to Kane [Hodder,
the stuntman actor who plays Jason] about it. They're doing a new Jason
movie this fall, and he says it's the best Jason script he's read. I don't
know whether that means anything or not. But then he said after the new
year they're going to do Freddy Vs. Jason."
(CSO)
Hansen has been working on a script called "Icebound"
which he is hoping to get produced, so far he has gotten to this point.
"Gary and I have pitched that to a number of places, and we had
some good responses where it was taken to the studio and we had a couple
of meetings. But we've not been able to sell it yet. I talked to Gary a
couple of weeks ago, and he's got Bob Kurtzman, who directed Wishmaster
and wants to direct it. He's got four or five more producers he wants to
mention it to, so we're hopeful. The complaint with it was that it wasn't
a teen horror film, it's a real horror film. It has adults in it."
(CSO) Hansen is also working on a script parody of the TCM series. It
also is said to spoof the F13 series of films. It is about some kids that
go investigate the TCM story and well in Hansens words, They're convinced
that this really happened, and they go out to these places to make their
little documentary film on video, and they're gonna uncover some unknown
factoid that's going to lead to the capture of the killers. After all, The
Cook and Leatherface were never caught. And that's going to make them famous;
that's their motivation. Of course, the irony of the story is there really
was a massacre, and they do meet the real family, and the family is really
pissed because this movie was made without consulting them. So not only
is it inaccurate, but they never even got paid!". Of course TCM
is based on FOOEY, so don;t anyone email me stating otherwise. This if it
gets off the ground could be the first film to blatantly rip off "The
Final Broadcast" and "TBWP". Maybe a subgenre can spring
out of the TBWP, we'll call it the SHOCKUMENTARY for the moment. Until someone
comes up with a better name
Jan De Bont, has left "The Adaptive Ultimate"

"Crow 3: The Salvation" has had
its soundtrack announced, producer Jeff Most has stated "Right now

Stabbing Westward, Danzig, Tricky, Days of the New, The Fly, Static X [and]
three major acts that we're going to be announcing actually in the press
about a week from now," the three major acts are not yet known
but lead actor Eric Mabius hinted that Rob Zombie may be providing some
music, Zombie was originally slated to write and direct the film at one
stage.. So a song would not be out of the question. As for a Fourth film

the Histories of Different Crows, throughout the ages. The film will hit
cinemas EASTER next year it is currently in Post.(CSO)
"Crow: Stairway to Heaven" , producer
Jeff Most said about the status of the TV show, . "We just did extremely
well in our first season. We were the number three rated new show in syndication.
We became a victim of the Polygram/Universal merger. We were a Polygram
TV show and Universal decided, since they out of the television business
for the most part, that we could have the show back. And we're actually
in the midst of arranging financing and distribution for the TV show. We
have the same exact team ... we're planning to be back on the air as quickly
as possible and back in production as early as the Fall.", so I
gather from this that we will be seeing a 2nd season. (CSO)

The Webpage for "Teaching Mrs. Tingle"
is now open. It is aptly titled www.worstteacherever.com.
Well somebody has a sense of humor.. haha. However like most Dimension films
websites.. They are not just interested in promoting their film. On the
right as you enter you will see more banners than you would at the Olympics.
If you want to proceed past that point you must click .. More about Teaching
Mrs. Tingle. Down in the bottom left corner. When you make it inside.. Alls
you get is brief plot (without any reference to the Lois Duncan book the
film is ripped from). In the download section there are 7 pics, A trailer,
and 7 mov/avi clips of about 1.5 meg in size, without any description beside
them (I'm not downloading something if I don't know what it is. Ball and
all one of the worst official sites I have seen in my life. I hope Dimension
didn't pay anyone to make it.
Actor Dean Norris is joining the cast of "The

The Film Adaption of the "From Hell"
comic book will be based around the "Jack the Ripper" story. The
Hughes brothers have adapted it and FOX will produce the film on a small
budget. New Line originally was to make the film with a big name star but
when they could ot get one they passed on it. Eddie Campbell one of the
creators of the comic book has said that he not happy with the Terry Hayes
script. Both Campbell and Alan Moore the comic's creators will have very
little to do with the production of the film. Moore does not even want to
go on the set. (CSO)
Mike Mignola is happy with the work Guillermo Del Toro has done on the
adaption of "Hell Boy" and is hoping
that a studio will pick it up. Newline has budgeted it at 40 million.. But
Del Toro wants 60 million. So the film may yet be made at Universal. (CSO)

about a real estate agent, played by John Ritter, who keeps trying to sell

has a masscaristic past. As soon as potential buyers hear about its blody
past, they flee the house. (CSO)

"The Blair Witch Project" will
be opening on the 16th of December in Australia according to TBWP Downunder and not the 26th of December as I read
on the Movie Network's "Cinema, Cinema, Cinema". TBWP downunder
is also staying tongue and cheek as to if Ed and Dan will be coming down
here in early December.. But I'm guessing they;ll just go sit in front of
the bridge in Sydney.. IE come nowhere near Brisbane. But I can always hope.
Unfortunatley I could not make it to the TIME held chat room with the directors
yesterday.. The transcripts are not yet online.

The poster (that zombie in the middle in Gay, not that there is anything
wong with that) is from a film directed by Ken Yakkel."Stop it You're Killing Me" Ken sent me an email
detailing the plot and everthing of the film. It is long so I have decided
to post it here.. Because it is a very nice read. Ken is with HAXAN Entertainment.
(Don't get that mixed with Haxan Films.).
After five years in the making (that's twice as long as
Forbidden Planet) Häxan Entertainment proudly presents the soon to
be released dark comedy independent, "Stop It, You're Killing Me".
Hmmm? Why does that title ring a bell? Well, for more than
four years, talk of this project has been buzzing all over the internet,
and from time to time, mentioned in various genre magazines.
What is it, you ask?
In the summer of 94' the undertaking of a project, not
like anything ever seen before, went into production. Only taking time out
of shooting to watch the O.J. bronco chase, the offensive dark comedy "Stop
It, You're Killing Me" began rolling cameras.
Starring "Scream King" Michael Todd (H.P. Lovecraft's
The Lurking Fear--Puppet Master II & III--The Dead Next Door and The
Robot Ninja) slipped into, not one, but three rolls for this off the wall
love triangle movie.
Playing a gay zombie, a bartender and a one hundred twelve
year old multi-millionaire, whose libido makes Bill Clinton's look like
it dried up years ago, brings genre character-acting to an apex.
Was the point of this movie simply just to offend?...Not,
if you're a fan of fart jokes, Hitler humor or the always popular subject
of the Effeminate Undead.
"STOP IT, YOU'RE KILLING ME" is a farcical tug
of war between a powerful witch, Anna Wortitsky, and a ruthless, money hungry
woman, Susan Vanlerberg.
Caught in the middle is Edwin Vanlerberg. Edwin is a one
hundred twelve year-old multi-millionaire who is married to Susan. She,
of course, only married him for his money, and has been waiting years for
his natural demise - which seems not to be happening.
Having had enough of the old man, she decides to help the
natural order of things along by causing his much anticipated, but long
overdue, expiration.
Much to her dismay, however, all her efforts - no matter
how thorough, are for naught. The old man just won't pass on.
The reason Edwin continues his earthly existence is because
of Anna. She has been using her magical abilities to protect Edwin. It seems
that of all the spells she knows, there is 'one' more potent than any other:
a hex that will give her eternal youth, and ultimate mystical powers. Her
only problem is one of the ingredients she needs for this potion is the
toenail clippings of a one hundred and fifty year-old man--and those are
very rare!
So Anna works hard everyday casting smaller spells that
keep Edwin alive, and plans on doing so for another thirty-eight years,
until his toenails age properly. It's hard work for her, but is made more
difficult by the fact that Susan is now attempting to murder Edwin.
Caught in the middle of this power struggle is William;
Anna's effeminate un-dead familiar. William is a hapless, lovable zombie
who just can't seem to get a break. Not only is his duty to collect the
macabre ingredients that Anna needs for her conjuration's, but it is also
his responsibility to run the more mundane errands that are found in every
day life: Run out for coffee, stop by the store and
pick up toilet paper, etc.....ad infinitum.
Underpaid, and not at all appreciated, William tries to
formulate a plan that will release him from his indentured servitude--and
much to his surprise, he comes up with one better. William not only finds
a way to get away from Anna, but he gets an idea that could give him and
Edwin a new lease on life--and at the same time, giving Anna and Susan their
comeuppance.
It's a risky venture, but well worth it...if it works.
If it fails, however, then it spells eternal torment for the zombie fag
as a result of Anna's wrath that will surely fall upon him.
"STOP IT, YOU'RE KILLING ME" is certain to become
a CULT FAVORITE for those who love the tasteless, but hilarious mix of Horror
and Comedy.
"SI,YKM" also has a tour de-force performance
by the veteran actress of two 'women in prison' films --Jamie Donahue, who
will soon be seen starring in the new Full Moon Zombie flick "The Dead
Hate The Living". She can also be seen in the Goth Rock Video "Tears
of Blood" for the band "Penis Flytrap" which, coincidentally,
were both directed by "Stop It's" editor Dave Parker.
Also appearing is genre favorite James Black, who can be
seen starring in U.P.N.'s "The Burning Zone" currently playing
on the Sci-Fi channel. James has also had supporting rolls in Kurt Russell's
"Soldier" and George Clooney's "Out Of Sight" as well
as the currently in production "Universal Soldier II". Die hard
fans might remember him from the early days of his career, when he stared
in J.R.Bookwalter's "Ozone" and "Zombie Cop".
For those of you who are really into the indi-horror scene,
you may even find a familiar femme fetal-Debbi "Dare" Dutch doing
what she does, or rather, what she shows best.
When it comes to music, the decision wasn't even questioned.
When Scottland Olds Harbert agreed to do the original sound track, things
were ready to fall into place. Scott's latest score can be heard on the
recently released feature "The Method", starring Sean Patrick
Flannery and genre great Robert Forster. G.W.A.R. The very name congers
up a certain type of feeling, the type that belongs in no better a place
than in this movie. Luckily, "SI,YKM" was able to acquire their
song "Sick of You" to round out an already killer flick.
But what is a horror/comedy without special effects? SI,YKM
has some of the most dazzling make-up effects provided by Emmy Award winning
FX artist Greg Funk, whose credits include "Babylon 5", "Spawn",
"Night of the Living Dead"- Savini remake, and is currently the
on-set head of make-up FX for "The X-Files". Die hard zombie fans
might also recognize the name from his appearance as the cemetery zombie
in the "NOTLD" remake.
Speaking of zombies, Jason Matthews of Stan Winston Studios
provided a kick-ass make-up for William, the gay zombie in the film. Jason's
other work can be seen in "Lost World-Jurassic Park", Inspector
Gadget", "Small Soldiers" and the recently released "Instinct".
Kaleidoscope Animations out of Cleveland, Oh also lent
a hand by providing the handful of Silicon Graphic Effects that were used
in the film.
Fans of Sid & Marty Kroft will also appreciate the
'tribute' to those cheesy, but always kinda creepy, talking puppet heads
that would appear in their bizarre shows of the 70's.
All of this was pulled together by Producer, Lawreen Kayl,
who in the past has brought you "Check Mate" starring kick boxing
queen, Cynthia Rothrock, as well as producing numerous plays in both New
York and Los Angeles.
So when do I get to see this movie, you ask? "STOP
IT, YOU'RE KILLING ME" is currently in the sound mixing stage, and
hopes to be setting up a distribution deal before the end of summer 99'.
In the mean time, keep your eyes peeled on the internet
for a soon-to-be-available trailer for the film.
Check out and bookmark the addresses below to see photo's
from the set, and to keep up on the progress of what is sure to become a
movie talked about for generations to come; or at least until the end of
this century.

adapting Wes Cravens first novel, "The Fountain
Society" into a screenplay. (CSO)
"Teaching Mrs. Tingle" gets its
first strike from the MPAA for the advertising campaign.. Which the MPAA
claims promotes teenage drinking. This is the advert where Mrs. Tingles
dog is drinking wine and the KAtie Holmes notes that she'd turn to drink
if she were owned by a nasty old hag. Now tell me the MPAA are just sharpening
their claws on this film, because I calculate that this film well go through
hell for a rating. (CSO)
The HAXAN 5 are set to split 20 million of the TBWP
profits amongst themselves if the film continues on its merry way as it

The following news appeared on Halloweenmovies.com. It is about the incoming 8th film.
It does not give much away. But by the title. Evil Never Dies, we could
assume that the film may keep Myers in the public eye, but could also mean
that some other kind of Evil will take his place. Back in July after fan
feedback remember that 77% of fans wanted Mike back. I'm sure the people
selling and making Mike masks want him back to.. I'm also sure that Miramax
execs want fans money so they will bring him back:)
Paul Freeman, producer of several films in the HALLOWEEN series, has
announced the current working title for the next installment in the HALLOWEEN
series is HALLOWEEN H2K - EVIL NEVER DIES.
Several writers are currently working on scripting the new movie, which
will most likely feature a return to Haddonfield for the storyline. The
HALLOWEEN 8 fan feedback that this website recently collected played and
will continue to play a large role in the shaping of this new movie. The
movie will most likely be shot in Salt Lake City, home of previous sequels.
HALLOWEEN H2K, distributed by Dimension Films, is targeted for a Fall, 2000
release. I remember when Wishmaster 2 was Evil Never Dies:)
The Cell has taken in another actor.. This
time it is Catherine Sutherland an Australian born actress that is known
best for playing the role of the pink ranger in the later series (ZEO and
Turbo). Now we get both pink rangers in horror films, as Amy Jo Johnson
appears in "Cold Hearts", little crappy fact there for a paper
like the Courier Mail to do a feature article on. (DRC)
Godsend: The Evil Decimation, will be releasing
in October according to Dr Casey. It is the story of a convicted killer
who thinks that he is god. Well after escaping from a mental institution
the cops have to track him down before he kills again. See the official site for more.
LifeLine is the name of the company making this film Australians should
not mix this lifeline up with the CHARITY that helps out the disadvantaged.

X- The Man with the X-Ray Eyes, may still
be in production by Dreamworks. It will be a remake of the 1963 film (Dreamworks
has it in for any film made in 1963 first The Haunting now this :). Tim
Burton was originally attached as a director for this project. However Sam
Arkoff the producer has not officially announced this. The script was written
by Bryan Goluboff (The Basketball Diaries). (DRC)
Sixth Sense has entered at #1.. Wow. The
Bruce Willis film with a icy horror sideline, managed to squeeze its neck
out and beat TBWP, it gained 25.8 million. (DH)
The Blair Witch Project slipped down only
16% at the box office. Well it's 2 week in a row rise could not got for
the 3rd but it still managed to take in a whopping 24.5million making it
now the EVEN MORE MOST PROFITABLE film of all time. TBWP still maintained
#2 position fending off Runaway Bride. All up 79.5 million.. Does that mean
the HAXAN 5 will get 7 or 8 Foosball tables?? (DH)
"Deep Blue Sea" fell back to 5th
position taking in 11 million for a total of 45.3 million. (DH)
The Haunting proved once again that Special
FX are not where the scares are at. It plumeted to 8th position with 6.3
million on the weekend. Taking it's total gross to 77.2 million. Which is
less than TBWP. Also the film is yet to make it to its budget. But it will.

Saturday the 7th of August 99 (will be updating archives for last
2weeks today sorry for inconvenience. pre-occupied with BIFF and stuff)
eXistenZ review Sunday.
Today I got Larry Cohen's (ALIVE trilogy) autograph at the Brisabne International
Film Festival. he chaired a seminar on Independenyt film-making. He had
some interesting things to say about up coming projects. Here they are in
a nutshell.
Larry Cohen is currently in Brisbane for the International Film Festival
(BIFF) which is doing a retrospect on his life in movies. Today (Sat 7t)
he held a meet the film-makers seminar at the State Library (free of charge
so I went). The discussion went in various ways. Because of the amount of
people in the lecture theater we were limited to only one question. So I
asked about a film I'd seen listed on IMDB, "The
Phone Booth". The script had been bought for "A lot of
money by 20th century Fox", according to Larry, and it would follow
the style of most of his latest writing. This means each minute of the film
is going a to equal a minute in the realife of the characters. IE 90mins
of continuous film will equal 90mins of the lives of the characters on the
film in sequence. no cutting ahead just 90 minutes REAL TIME film-making
(similar to RUN LOLA, RUN [according to Larry]). It is a thriller that will
be filmed around a Phone Booth, and Larry said FOX is looking for big name
stars and a big name director for the film. Larry does not seem to want
to direct the film, however he did say that the week prior to coming to
Australia he was in talks with Mel Gibson about "The Phone Booth".
I'd assume this was for acting, but remember that Gibson does have a Oscar
under his belt for directing. I also heard Cohen say he'd love to make a
film in Australia, but that is just a marketing ploy used by all directors
to sell films when down here. BIFF is currently doing a retrospective on
the films of Larry Cohen which finishes tonight.
Angel will begin on October the 5th at 9pm
(after Buffy). Whilst the other new WB series "Roswell"
will begin at 9pm on the 6th of October (after Felicity). (CSO)
"Millenium" the TV series although
it has been axed. Chris Carter is still keen on continuing the characters.
Either in a crossover with the X-files or a film based on the series. (CSO)
"The Blair Witch Project" DVD
will be available on the 26th of October. It will be not be the special
edition. The special edition could be released a further 4 months down the
track though. I guess the initial DVD is for DVD/VIDEO rental shop purposes.
More than anything else. (CSO)
Friday the 6th of August 99
"Jurassic Park 3" could go into
production as early as 2000 for a 2001 release date. Amblin entertainment
have settled on director Joe Johnstons (Jumaji) to direct the film. The
script is likely to be written by Craig Rosenberg. Michael Crichton will
only have a passing influence and involvement with the film. (DH) Let's
hope it is a full on Monster gore-fest like the books are.
According to DH if Anthony Hopkins does not take on the role of Hannibal than it could be given to Tim Roth. (DH)
Thursday the 5th of August 99 (review of TWO
HANDS)
There are a few rumors circulating about a sequel to "The
Blair Witch Project" one is that the story might follow the
life of Rustin Parr, the other is that the film may be based on the witch
hunt of Elly Kedward in 1785. There is also a third story idea thay Sanchez
and Myrick are keeping cloe to themselves which is way off the scale. (CSO)
According to IMDBD, Jonathon Taplin (producer) believes that TBWP has changed
the economics of the industry basically over night. Now it seems likely
that all film. Exec president of Warner Bros, Jim Banister, "observed
that filmmakers are already demanding that Internet marketing campaigns
be included in their contracts" (IMDB)
The spoof "Scream if you know what I did Last
Halloween" will gain the acting talents of MTV's singled out
co-host Jenny McCarthy to aid in the story telling. (HO)
"Flight 180" is destined for a
February y2k take-off according to CSO.
Wednesday the 4th of August 99
Amazingly "Two Hands" (The Australian
Horror film from Sundance) has scared the audiences into the premiere this
week.. Making it the first Australian FILM in a long time to debut at #1
position at the box office. It grossed 807 thousand over 123 screens on
the weekend (dismal compared to TBWP), you need to remember that the film
was in WIDE release and at the same time there were two major film festivals
luring punters away from the multiplexes. A large one in Melbourne (MIFF)
and Brisbane (BIFF). I have not yet seen the film because I've been busy
at BIFF. But intend to soon and will post a review when I do. The film beat
South Park which dropped off 44%. Other Horror films faired like this #6
"The Mummy", #12 Carrie
2 (in first week 88 cinemas). Ball and all this week is a horrible
week to release a film Especially during BIFF as Brisbane is one of the
Keenest movie going areas in the Western World. Bad Timing again for MGM's
Carrie 2, but I went and saw it.. Review here.

Forget all the gossip you have heard about "Hannibal"
except for the following. It will be directed by Ridley Scott, and It will
be adapted by David Mamet. But Hopkins and Foster have not yet signed. Neither
have Woods or Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Sorry for small update. Connection slow tonight :). Will make it up 2morrow.
Promise.
Monday the 2nd of August 99
Happy 60th Birthday to WES CRAVEN. Director
of "The Last House on the Left", "The Hills Have Eyes",
"A Nightmare on Elm St", the "Scream" trilogy and much
more. FACT, Wes Craven was born in August of 1939. In the film "The
Hills Have Eyes" August of 39 is when everything started to go wrong.
Don't read anything into that. Craven is one of the big C's in the Horror
film world, he sits beside, Clive barker, john Carpenter, david Cronnenberg,
sean s. Cunningham and there is one I'm forgetting.. Oh yeah, add bill Condon
to that list. There are lotsa of Horror directors that have a C at the start
of their first or last names. And Craven is one of the best of them. pop
into his page and say Happy birthday. www.wescraven.com.
THE BOX OFFICE.
"The Blair Witch Project" is now
trully phenomenal. 28.5 million in it's first weekend of WIDE release. Kept
in 2nd place by that Runaway Bride film. Despite the Witch's R rating the
film continues to blast a hole through Hollywood. It has now taken 34.5
million. It is expected to surpass 100 million. The film is open on Approx.
1000 screens and will open even wider next week to 2000 screens, NEXT WEEK
it could take in MORE, making it #1. Not only the audience is afraid. But
the industry is shaking in their boots as to how they can possibly release
another horror film this year.
UNFORTUNATELY there is no way that "The Blair Witch Project"
will do anywhere near as good in Australia (comparatively) as it has been
picked up by DENDY(according to Brisbane's SUNDAY MAIL) which is a pissy
little bunch of cinemas (one screen in my city, some city's don't have a
screen), a damn shame that so many Australians will miss out on this film.
But I'm sure that while it plays at DENDY there will be very few seats leftover.
It is a great big shame that we must sacrifice sound and visual's because
the film was sold to crappy exhibition outfit (I'm really angry, I hate
rats at my feet when I see a film). I'm trying hard not to type swear words.
This film is worthy of a screen or 2 in every cineplex in my city BRISBANE,
but instead it will get a crappy cinema that Greater Union sold because
it was running at a loss. In one goddamn screen... I'm absolutely spewing.
It's like campaigning for this film in Australia has lead me down a road
I would redirect traffic around if I saw it. Oh well, at least it'll make
BIG money in the USA. Ahh well.. I'll most likely be able to buy the DVD
from the USA before it releases down here anyhow.
"DEEP BLUE SEA" took out 3rd position
with a very nice total of 18.6 million.
"THE HAUNTING" as predicted lost
more than 50% of last weekends gross and dropped it's taking for the week
to 15.1 million, It has so far earned 63.8 million. It may break even. It'll
do it easy. It came 4th.
According to Darkhorizons Jodie Foster and Hopkins have both signed on
to "Hannibal" officially. (CSO).
There will be no update tomorrow unless I'm emailed by some HORROR god
about something. As tomorrow I turn 21. I'm a LEO and I'm going to the flicks
to see "Naked Lunch" (Cronenberg)
at the Brisbane International Film Festival and than running like hell to
the classic theater to see "Touch of Evil"
(Orson Welles) or so I've been told. It's meant to have been re-tocuhed
up and, it has good old Janet Leigh and Chuck Heston and Marlene Dietrich.
All the who's who at the old peoples home. But damned good film.
Sunday the 1st of August 99
There is a new spoof of "The Blair Witch Project".
This one has been captured on video and is set in MARYLAND in a galaxy far,
far away (CLICK HERE, 1.5 meg MOV). The film has been created
by Ed Bain, a very talented Star Wars Spoofer from www.theforce.net
. Meanwhile in this galaxy people have left screenings of TBWP sick, clinical
audiologist John Risey of Tulane University Hospital explains : "What
happens is the camera and the brain mismatch message. ... Because you are
seated and you are still, your brain gets wrong information that you are
in motion." I have discovered the CURE.. sit toward teh back of
the cinema rather than the front just fo rthis one film. And than you will
not get as sick. Risey indicates that the small screen effect would not
be as bad. |
